Both the Yarramalong and Dooralong Valleys have long history of agricultural activities since the early 1800’s including the initial timber industry and later dairying activities.

A comprehensive Archaeological and Heritage Assessment has been undertaken as part of the Environmental Assessment studies.  The surveys were undertaken in the presence of local Aboriginal representatives.  The surveys identified three Indigenous sites and an area of archaeological sensitivity along Wallarah Creek in the Hue Hue Road ecological offset investigation area.

Although the Project will not impact on any known Indigenous sites, further assessment will be undertaken in the presence of Aboriginal representatives during the construction phase of the project.  Ongoing Archaeological and Heritage Assessments will also be undertaken within the mining area as part of the ongoing Subsidence Management Plan process.
